Position Summary
Vibliome Therapeutics is seeking an experienced, highly skilled, and motivated chemist with exceptional organic synthesis and medicinal chemistry expertise to identify and advance small molecule leads from its novel technology platform.  This position will require the candidate to possess and leverage deep knowledge and capabilities to progress differentiated kinase inhibitors drug discovery programs and advance them towards the clinic.  Using a mix of internal and external resources, the Senior Scientist will be an active member of cross-functional project teams, and be responsible for designing, and delivering high quality lead molecules with an eye toward optimizing lead quality attributes.

Responsibilities (Text Only)

Roles and Responsibilities of the Position*
- Actively contribute to Vibliome’s project portfolio by designing compounds based on SAR analysis and structure-based drug design (SBDD) concepts
- Evolve hit compounds through lead optimization (LO) utilizing medicinal chemistry concepts and biology data into potential clinical candidates
- Analyze Vibliome’s SAR library and use structure-guided methods and biological insights to design unique lead candidates with differentiated activity profiles suitable for POC animal studies and potential clinical candidates
- Actively support one or more drug discovery projects, working in concert with medicinal chemistry, biology, data science and computational chemistry team leads in the company
- Coordinate with global contract research organizations and collaborators on synthetic chemistry activities, computational chemistry, structural biology, and other key disciplines
- Perform literature reviews, patent searches, design, propose, and execute medicinal chemistry plans, and coordinate chemistry and biology data to support compound progression and patent strategies
- Participate in portfolio and stage-gate reviews, and assist in the preparation and presentation of data packages for lead candidate nomination and compound advancement
- Ensure optimal interaction/communication and provide updates on project status to leadership

Qualifications (Text Only)

Qualifications
- PhD in synthetic organic or medicinal chemistry is preferred
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry with a broad and proven track record of innovative accomplishments in medicinal chemistry and key contributions to clinical candidate selection
- Utilizing expert knowledge of modern methods of synthetic and medicinal chemistry to successfully conduct medicinal chemistry on multiple projects
- Solid understanding of cellular/molecular biology, biochemistry, disease pharmacology, mechanisms of drug metabolism and molecular toxicology, pharmaco-kinetic and pharmaco-dynamic sciences, and formulations for the in vivo evaluation of drug candidates is preferred
- Knowledge of and experience with computational chemistry methods including SBDD and biophysical techniques Although this position will primarily work with an external group for synthesis, knowledge of synthetic methods is essential, and occasional synthesis support may be required from time to time
- Strong problem-solving skills for developing creative, innovative solutions, and meeting project objectives are required
- Strong track record of scientific contributions including peer reviewed first-author publications, patent applications, and presentations at major national meetings is preferred
- Interpersonal skills that allow one to be an effective member of an inclusive team are required
